it stopped raining today. for five hours. two of which, i spent traipsing around the lake. i couldn't figure out why so few people were out and about until i reached the main entrance with the parking lot. above my knee water spilled across the access road pretty much precluding any visitors from the lot, although i did watch a cyclist ride slowly through it.
here's yesterday's bridge, from both sides. the water in the lower picture was a little over my ankles. i felt comfortable walking through it after the park ranger came across in his hip waders and pronounced it safe. i also talked, er, listened to a retired navy guy on a bike whose daughter is in her final year of law school. he'd ridden south, but turned back when the rushing water got too close to the path for his comfort level.
While there weren't as many people out, i did see more variety in the wildlife than usual, including a beaver, a green heron and an egret.
anyhow, there's a little water in the basement bathroom, but not much. the backyard is a lake and continues its slow crawl into the neighbor's yard, but at least it's not my tree in their pool!
